Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has postponed the verdict on the contentious case regarding the appointment of 52 officials to various Constitutional Commissions by three weeks, citing ongoing deliberations among the justices.
The decision, initially expected on Wednesday, will now be delivered on June 18. The case was heard by the Constitutional Bench comprising Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut and Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla, Manoj Kumar Sharma, Kumar Chudal, and Nahakul Subedi.
The appointments in question, made under an amended ordinance—with 32 officials appointed on Magh 21, 2077 BS, and 20 more on Ashar 10, 2078 BS—have been challenged in 15 separate writ petitions filed over the past four and a half years.
Although the final hearings concluded in mid-January, the verdict announcement was repeatedly delayed, raising anticipation for a resolution. The Constitutional Bench is expected to issue a comprehensive ruling addressing all 15 petitions simultaneously.
